Let me tell you how my adventures in Florida started.
It was January 1999 when I came here with my wife and our three daughters from cold and snowy Buffalo for a week long vacation and couldn’t believe we were walking in short sleeves, gazing at green gardens and enjoying gentle sunshine. 

During that week another four feet of snow fell on our driveway up north, and only thanks to our great neighbor Dan were we able to make it into our garage after we got back home.

Less than three years later, on a cool and windy October day, we left our empty house, gave the keys to our real estate agent, and headed south.

We are still wondering why it took us so long to make that decision.  Today we consider ourselves to be lucky to live in this remarkable state and we would like to give you a taste of it.

Apart from many well known Florida tourist attractions like theme parks in Orlando or Key West beaches, there is plenty of other places and attractions worth seeing here.

Florida's natural habitats range from wetlands to desert like conditions depending on elevation above sea level.  With that big biological diversity comes the richness of Florida wildlife.

There is a variety of local, State and National parks and other nature refuge areas protecting wildlife in its original habitats.  Many of these places offer recreational activities as well as wildlife viewing sites.

To make the beauty and attractions of Florida more tangible we will give you our personal accounts of some of the many trips we took around the state.  We hope they will help you make your own trips to the Sunshine State more worthwile.
